I could brave bad weather…but why bother

I’ve been drinking so much wine this week I forgot to drink any beer! FOR SHAME.

You wouldn’t think that stanky cheese would pair well with Brooklyn Brewery’s East India Pale Ale (6.8% ABV/45 IBU), but you’d be wrong.

Oddly enough, BB’s website says you should pair it with aged cheese, crab cakes, fatty fish and Thai food (which is, coincidentally, everything I smell like right now).

I’m pairing it with nothing, as I had Panda Express for lunch today and I still hate myself.

Not a lot of nose on the beer though, at all. But I’m famously bad at smelling. A little zip to it from the carbonation. Not sure if that’s a good thing.

One thing that’s funny is that this photo makes it look like it’s kind of a coppery reddish brown. But everyone on Beer Advocate said it was golden/amber/brown. So I must not be good at seeing either.

All in all, it’s just somewhat memorable…ish. I didn’t not enjoy it, but I won’t go out of my way to buy it again. It only cost a buck something for a 12 oz. bottle anyway.

This is just one of a mixed sixer I picked up, all 12 oz. beers I’ve never tried before (oh, and a Bell’s Two Hearted; guilty pleasure).

Most of them cost anywhere from $1.99 to $2.99 each, except one: the very expensive Founder’s Devil Dancer that I’m going to save for a special occasion like its a ’61 Cheval Blanc.

Side note: most beer bloggers list ABV when they review a beer; not many list IBUs. Why is that?

Another workout indoors tonight: I did the Level 2 Shred, even though my arms are still killing me from doing Trouble Zones on WEDNESDAY. Jeez. I’m sick of trying to stay inside just because it’s dangerously hot out.

Also, I’m sick of lunges. I just can’t do them as deep as I’d like. Whenever I try, especially with the dynamic ones, I get a weird twitch in my right kneecap, so I stop. It doesn’t hurt exactly, but I know it can’t be good for the knee. At any rate the lunge moves just don’t feel comfortable, so I don’t do ’em.

As I said, there’s a difference between change-happening uncomfortable and injury-happening uncomfortable. I err on the side of caution.

Tomorrow: plaaaaanning a 4-5ish mile run, early, because it’s going to be disgusting again. But my feelings won’t be hurt if it only ends up being 3.

After that, maybe some pool time at a friend’s place.

Cheers y’all. Be good.
